Key Facts About Lake Naivasha National Park

Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake located in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) northwest of Nairobi. It’s one of the most scenic and ecologically important lakes in the country, and it holds both natural beauty and economic significance.

Name Origin: The name Naivasha comes from the Maasai word “Enaiposha,” meaning “rough water,” because of the lake’s tendency to suddenly become stormy.
